Concept 

Classical science treats information as descriptive: a way to encode states of matter and energy. In Shannon’s framework, information reduces uncertainty but remains independent of meaning.

An alternative proposal – articulated by Mihai Drăgănescu under the term orthophysics – suggests a deeper layer. Information is not carried by matter; matter may emerge from informational organization. Physical phenomena would then represent stabilized expressions of a more fundamental informational domain.

In this view, laws of nature are not merely mathematical regularities imposed on substance. They express structured constraints intrinsic to informational reality. Meaning does not imply interpretation by a mind; it denotes the presence of internal organization guiding coherence and emergence.

This perspective does not negate physics. It repositions it. Observable reality becomes phenomenal manifestation; informational structure becomes generative ground.

If information is ontologically primary, then distinction precedes substance.

Whether this claim is metaphysical speculation or emerging scientific direction remains an open question.
