Context
The problems related to the study of cardiac dynamics from the perspective of Complexity science have highlighted the importance of conceptual reformulation and of complementing the investigation techniques for assessing the “health status” of the cardiovascular system from the perspective of nonlinear physics. The conventional approach to natural processes and phenomena — an approach that is in principle linear — allowed the application of the superposition principle, of the reductionist methodology that involves fragmenting the human organism into organs and treating them formally through the theory of dynamical systems and statistical mathematics. Although the difficulty of this approach was evident — at least because of the obvious couplings between the dynamic and evolving structure of the blood-vessel system and the cardio-respiratory dynamics, depending on certain physical and emotional data, normal or pathological — this manner of approach still persists. It is, however, unanimously recognized that this linear approach to the living and to life in general is entirely improper, and therefore a modernization of the conceptual basis and of the investigation methodologies is required, in keeping with the new paradigm of complexity, with quantum physics, with the science of the Mind.
Complexity theory shows, among other things, that the superposition principle cannot be applied to a nonlinear system, which must therefore be treated as a whole (there are essential properties of the organism that are the fruit of the interactions and exchanges occurring among the constituent subsystems and that cannot be determined from however detailed a study of one or another of its parts). The theory of bifurcations, of critical points and of evolution around critical points has shown that there may be moments when small variations can have catastrophic effects, that small fluctuations (arrhythmias) of cardiac dynamics can be used both in diagnosing the global health status of the cardiovascular circuit and in processes of non-traumatic resuscitation from cardiac arrest (a process of controlling the chaotic process that characterizes the functioning of the heart), or in understanding the physical-emotional coupling, with implications for the externalization of tacit knowledge and for education using biofeedback processes.
In this context, the entire portfolio of concepts, theories, models and measurement techniques specific to the approach to nonlinear processes from the perspective of Complexity science can be considered the intellectual resource for refining the techniques and technologies of diagnosis and treatment in medicine in general (integrative medicine) and in understanding and defining the health status of the cardiovascular system in particular.
The study pursues the use of chaos theory and of the multiparametric analysis of data (data mining) acquired through various techniques from a patient, with a view to building an integrated model of the cardiovascular system and to understanding its correlations with, and conditioning by, external physical factors (including geo-astrophysical ones) and mental factors. In other words, the aim is to investigate the potential offered by Complexity science in developing new models and techniques for the evaluation and treatment of the cardiovascular system and of its interaction within the homeostasis of the whole organism.
Objectives
– highlighting the methods for capturing and multiparametrically analysing experimental data specific to Complexity science and usable in cardiological analysis;
– carrying out a filtering of the databases concerning a patient’s cardiological status and complementing this database with data acquired in line with the proposed nonlinear-analysis technology;
– modelling the cardiovascular system from the perspective of Complexity science and of Computational science;
– studies and research on the influence of the astro-geophysical environment upon the health status of the cardiovascular system, as a part organically linked with the whole organism — an entity that coexists and co-evolves with the whole Earth;
– identifying the methods, models, techniques and technologies derived from the studies above that may have an impact on the development of telemedicine technologies.
PROIECT DESCHIS

Obiective
– evidențierea metodelor de captare și analiză multiparametrică a datelor experimentale specifice științei Complexității și utilizabile în analiza cardiologică;
– realizarea unei filtrări a bazelor de date referitoare la starea unui pacient din punct de vedere cardiologic și completarea acestei baze cu date preluate în consonanță cu tehnologia de analiză neliniară propusă;
– modelarea sistemului cardiovascular din perspectiva științei Complexității și a științei Computaționale;
– studii și cercetări privind influența mediului astro-geofizic asupra stării de sănătate a sistemului cardio-vascular, ca parte organic legată cu întregul organism, entitate ce coexistă și co-evoluează cu întregul Pământ;
